Five years after the popular Ratanga Junction theme park shut down in Cape Town, work continues on massive new residential developments on the land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ratanga Junction amusement park officially shut down in May 2018, making way for a host of new developments in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the Ratanga Development project, property developer Rabie is leading several new projects on the land – with the latest called On Park, housed right on the Ratanga parklands that used to house some of the most prominent rides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new development features a circular pavilion design set in the Ratanga Park, situated next to other Century City developments – right across from the Canal Walk shopping centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Park will consist of 121 apartments, which include several studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units. The top floor boasts penthouses with panoramic views over the park and towards Cape Town\u2019s CBD and Table Mountain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rabie said the development will feature sustainable design aimed at EDGE certification which
includes green energy initiatives, sustainable water solutions such as recycled effluent for irrigation, reduced utility costs and water-wise landscaping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Building features include full backup power to all common areas and all apartments, which means that load shedding will not affect residents. Every apartment also has fibre-to-the home pre-installed, and the building has access control and CCTV in addition to Century City\u2019s smart safety & security measures,” it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development launched in May and is 75% accounted for the group said. Units have a starting price of R1.425 million running up to R2.6 million, with the R4.9 million penthouses already sold out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Construction is expected to start in September 2023, with a completion date anticipated around November or December 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Park is the second development on the land, and is situated next to the Nine Palms, which launched in May 2022 and is currently under construction and expected to be completed by November 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residents can expect to move into the smart city lifestyle from the beginning of 2024, Rabie said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nine Palms features 131 units in its three blocks, connecting directly to a new public piazza on the revitalized urban wharf edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development gets its name from nine palm trees that were transplanted more than 20 years ago and were iconic to the old Ratanga Junction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
