SA Bursaries<\/strong><\/a> has compiled a list of 10 notable bursaries available for the 2024 academic year for undergrad and postgraduate studies in fields such as teaching, business, accounting, engineering, and agriculture at some of South Africa\u2019s top universities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most significant investments you can make in your future is your education – but the reality is that education, especially tertiary education, is unaffordable for most, and that is where bursaries come in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

University bursaries are financial awards provided by educational institutions and businesses to support students’ academic pursuits, specifically those that show potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These bursaries aim to alleviate the financial burden on students, particularly those facing financial difficulties. The selection criteria for bursaries vary, but they all often consider factors such as financial need and academic performance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike loans, bursaries do not require repayment, making them highly beneficial. Universities typically offer bursaries through various programs and scholarships, which may cover tuition fees, textbooks, and living expenses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By offering bursaries, universities promote accessibility to higher education and help students focus on their studies without excessive financial worries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, some companies that award bursaries will sometimes require students to \u201cwork back\u201d the bursary by taking up employment at the company after graduation, and this can be an added advantage as students will have guaranteed jobs after completing their studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alternatively, those that cannot afford the fees to attend tertiary institutions have the option of the government-funded National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) programme, and students who qualify for The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) grants automatically qualify for NSFAS funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A bursary is the best bet if students don\u2019t qualify for NSFAS but still can\u2019t afford tertiary education fees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering this, SA Bursaries – South Africa\u2019s biggest bursary website – has compiled a comprehensive list of bursaries available for the 2024 academic year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of these bursaries will afford the recipient to attend some of South Africa\u2019s top universities, including the University of Cape Town (UCT), the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), the University of Pretoria (Tuks), and Stellenboch University \u2013 among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SA Bursaries reminds prospective applicants that all applications must be received on or before the due date, as late submissions are not accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
