water outage hitting Joburg next week extended to 58 hours"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Johannesburg Water says a major water outage planned for next week in Johannesburg will now finish 14 hours later than previously communicated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Johannesburg Water <a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/lifestyle\/701127\/major-44-hour-water-outage-hitting-joburg-next-week-all-areas-affected\/\">previously said<\/a> that the planned maintenance would take place from 19h00 on Tuesday, 11 July to 15h00 on Thursday, 13 July &#8211; a total of 44 hours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the completion date of the maintenance has now been moved from 15h00 on Thursday, 13 July to 05h00 on Friday, 14 July. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This means that the planned shutdown will now take place from <strong>19h00 on Tuesday, 11 July to 05h00 on Friday, 14 July 2023 &#8211; a total of 58 hours. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the same amount of time that was <a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/lifestyle\/697049\/major-58-hour-water-outage-in-joburg-postponed-report\/\">initially scheduled for in June<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The shutdown was previously meant to start on 20 June, but Johannesburg Water requested a postponement to provide relief to various areas that experienced supply issues during the prior weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The point of the shutdown is to finish a tie-in between the A19 and B14 with a new pipeline, install isolation valves and upgrade Rand Water&#8217;s Einkenhof pump station. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rand Water&#8217;s Daleside pump station and Johannebsurg Water&#8217;s Yeoville station will be affected by the shutdown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Johannebsurg Water said that it will provide further updates on the impacted Johannesburg infrastructure (reservoirs, towers and direct feeds) and alternative water supply. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following 138 areas within the city will be impacted by the water outage:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>46 areas in Roodepoort\/Randburg:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul
