Eskom has pushed load shedding to stage 4 on Monday, 10 July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The embattled power utility said that stage 4 load shedding will be implemented from 13h00 today until 05h00 on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is the first time that the utility has pushed load shedding to stage 4 since 11 June. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eskom said that the escalation is due to high demand and a slight reduction in generation capacity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eskom said that it will publish an update shortly and is pleading with the public to switch off non-essential appliances to reduce load shedding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The country has been hit with a harsh cold front leading to below-freezing temperatures in Gauteng and even snowfall in some parts of the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This pushes up demand for heating as households try to keep out of the cold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The escalation to stage 4 load shedding intensity comes after electricity minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa<\/a> said that the President Cyril Ramaphosa\u2019s Energy Action Plan is bearing fruit, setting the country up for energy abundance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The minister also said that Eskom, working alongside 100 experts from the private sector, has been able to mitigate load shedding, allow for generation recoveries, and ensure that the country is in the utility’s \u2018best-case scenario\u2019 for its winter outlook. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Schedules <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n For people living in the major metros, load shedding schedules are available here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n For access to other load shedding schedules, Eskom has made them available on loadshedding.eskom.co.za.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Smartphone users can also download the app EskomSePush to receive push notifications when load shedding is implemented, as well as the times the area you are in will be off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
