Ineos has announced its new Quartermaster bakkie for South Africa, which will be available for pre-order as soon as next month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to TopAuto<\/a>, the Ineos confirmed that pre-orders for the double cab would open on 1 August 2023, noting that pricing would be released on the same day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Quartermaster was developed in tandem with the Grenadier SUV<\/a>, which started local deliveries in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the company, the demand for the Grenadier exceeded expectations and plans to deliver at least 50 vehicles<\/a> to customers in South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is no surprise that Ineos has decided to bring a bakkie to South Africa, given the immense popularity of the utility vehicle in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vehicle sales data for the first six months of 2023 from the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa) showed that bakkies were still popular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Naamsa, three bakkies made the list o the best-selling cars, while the Toyota Hilux topped the list, accounting for 7% of total vehicle sales in South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What to expect<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Quartermaster has many of the same building blocks as the Grenadier and also uses the same engines as the SUV. Buyers can opt for either a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol or turbo-diesel engine sourced from BMW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The petrol engine produces 210kW and 450Nm, while the diesel generates 183kW and 550Nm. Both engines are connected to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with a two-speed transfer case and a permanent 4×4 system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
