Eight non-executive directors pocketed R4.105 million in 2014, while a further eight executive members shared R14.58 million.<\/p>\n
South African National Roads Agency Limited’s (Sanral) directors and management shared a remuneration of R26.4 million in 2014, up from R19.4 million in 2013, and R12 million in 2012.<\/p>\n
This is according to the state owned company’s annual report for the period ended March 2014.<\/p>\n
The 36% pay jump happened despite the roads agency reporting a loss of R2.77 billion, after deducting finance costs, down from a prior profit of R1 billion in 2013.<\/p>\n
Sanral reported a revenue slide 24% to R8.55 billion in 2014, from R11.86 billion before, and an operating loss of R175.9 million, from a prior profit of R4 billion in 2013.<\/p>\n
Sanral is facing heavy criticism following the implementation of an e-toll system in Gauteng in December 2013, which has by and large been rejected by motorists and is now being debated under the order of Gauteng\u2019s premier, David Makhura.<\/p>\n
The panel is set to present its findings in November.<\/p>\n
Sanral CEO Nazir Alli, took home a total of R3.6 million in 2014, up from R3.06 million in 2013. His pay included a basic salary of R2.01 million, and a performance payments & long service award’ of R1.067 million.<\/p>\n
