The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has published the official fuel price adjustments for August 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Petrol prices will increase by 37 cents per litre, while diesel will be going up by 71 and 72 cents per litre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The changes will come into effect from Wednesday, 2 August 2023<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The average international product prices for Petrol, Diesel and Illuminating Paraffin increased during the period under review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rand appreciated against the US Dollar during the period under review, on average, when compared to the previous period. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The average Rand\/US Dollar exchange rate for the period 30 June 2023 to 27 July 2023 was 18.2801 compared to 18.6825 during the previous period. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This led to a lower contribution to the Basic Fuel Prices on petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin by 27.46 c\/l, 26.64 c\/l and 27.11 c\/l respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In line with the provisions of the Self-Adjusting Slate Levy Mechanism, the Slate levy on petrol and diesel will remain at 0.00 c\/l with effect from 2 August 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
