In the same period, a generating unit at Medupi Power Station was taken offline for repairs.

The delay in returning to service two generating units each at Kendal and Tutuka power stations is contributing to the current capacity constraints. Eskom teams are working tirelessly to return these generating units to service.

Eskom added that it continues to appeal to the members of the public to continue reducing demand by switching off non-essential appliances.

It would like to thank those who do heed the call to use electricity sparingly and efficiently, including switching off geysers and pool pumps from 17:00 to 21:00, as this lowers demand and helps in alleviating the pressure on the power system and contributes to lower stages of load shedding.

Schedules

For people living in the major metros, load shedding schedules are available here:

City of Johannesburg

City of Ekurhuleni

City of Tshwane

City of Cape Town (PDF)

Nelson Mandela Bay

eThekwini

Manguang

Buffalo City

For access to other load shedding schedules, Eskom has made them available on loadshedding.eskom.co.za.

Smartphone users can also download the app EskomSePush to receive push notifications when load shedding is implemented, as well as the times the area you are in will be off.

Read: New low for load shedding in South Africa

[9874
1164
post-709490","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-energy","tag-eskom
["GET
