{"id":71362,"date":"2014-10-25T00:05:37","date_gmt":"2014-10-24T22:05:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=71362"},"modified":"2014-10-24T18:11:56","modified_gmt":"2014-10-24T16:11:56","slug":"the-most-sleep-friendly-airports-in-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/71362\/the-most-sleep-friendly-airports-in-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"The most &#8220;sleep-friendly&#8221; airports in Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Johannesburg&#8217;s OR Tambo International Airport has been named Africa&#8217;s best airport for &#8220;sleep-friendliness&#8221;, according to a global survey.<\/p>\n<p>The annual survey,\u00a0 compiled by Sleepinginairports.com, asks travellers to consider &#8220;the four C\u2019s&#8221; of airport travel: comfort, conveniences, cleanliness and customer service.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Comfort has to do with the availability of &#8220;quiet zones&#8221;, and various seating;<\/li>\n<li>Convenience is marked on amenities such as free Wi-Fi, food options and bathroom facilities;<\/li>\n<li>Cleanliness considers upkeep and maintenance; and<\/li>\n<li>Customer service measures the airport staff and security and how friendly they are to stranded passengers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The site&#8217;s survey draws in responses from over 14,000 travellers across the globe and uses no other metric besides user experiences.<\/p>\n<p>Of the top 5 listed airports in Africa, the top 3 are all South African airports, including OR Tambo International Airport in Joburg, Cape Town International Airport; and King Shaka International Airport in Durban.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Top 5 airports in Africa<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1. Sudan&#8217;s Khartoum International Airport taking the top dishonour.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;From dirty floors and bathrooms to the regular request for bribes, travellers were seriously unimpressed with the
