<\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\nThe R1.9 billion Giba Business Estate is currently in development in Durban after breaking ground in August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is the largest industrial and logistics development to break ground within Durban’s outer west region in more than three years and is being developed on land that was previously zoned for agricultural use. It is believed that development will reinvigorate the Giba Business Park. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
eThekWini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda said that the Giba Business Park is a welcome addition to a string of catalytic projects that the city is introducing in the region, including the Keystone Logistics Park in Hammarsdale, Westown in Shongweni and the Dry Port in Cato Ridge, injecting billions into the city’s outer west region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWith this project alone, we intend to create about 492 jobs during the construction phase and about 4 661 permanent jobs post-construction,\u201d Kaunda said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are also delighted that this project will contribute to the financial health of the Municipality as it will contribute over R60 million in rates revenue after three years of its commissioning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Giba Business Park is adjacent to the westbound carriageway of the Mariannhill Toll Plaza on the N3, with the N2, N3, and M7 interchanges all less than 10km away, providing easy access to the northbound and southbound routes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The development will have 220,000 square meters of platformed sites of various sizes, providing 22 sites to the light industry, warehousing, and allied logistics sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The estate will be developed in two phases, with work already beginning on the infrastructure and platforms for the first phase, which should be completed in July 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Early investors will also benefit from the R20 billion, eight-year upgrade in the N3 between Durban and Pietermaritzburg by SANRAL. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shaaz Mossa from the developers Sultex Investments also said that companies and manufacturing entities will be able to design their own bespoke developments, which will cater to their specific configurations and needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The development’s planning features eco-friendly green zones, high-speed fibre infrastructure, solar electricity generation, and state-of-the-art security. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
