{"id":7177,"date":"2012-03-02T12:36:14","date_gmt":"2012-03-02T12:36:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=7177"},"modified":"2013-04-12T12:27:47","modified_gmt":"2013-04-12T10:27:47","slug":"vodacom-mobile-wallet-planned-with-visa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/it-services\/7177\/vodacom-mobile-wallet-planned-with-visa\/","title":{"rendered":"New Vodacom mobile wallet planned"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Vodacom\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/227063-Vodacom\">Vodacom<\/a>\u00a0has confirmed plans to launch a mobile wallet on the back of an announcement by its parent,<a title=\"Vodafone\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/313865-Vodafone-UK\">Vodafone<\/a>, of a\u00a0<a title=\"Visa\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/305973-Visa-Inc.\">Visa<\/a>-backed service for mobile phones.<\/p>\n<p>However, Vodacom said that they have no deal in place with Visa yet and are in discussions with various suppliers, and \u201chope to make a decision soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Vodafone-branded mobile payment proposition will be based on Visa\u2019s prepaid account and offered in partnership with Visa issuers.<\/p>\n<p>Vodafone said that its mobile wallet will be able to use\u00a0<a title=\"near-field communication (NFC)\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/384133-NFC-Near-Field-Communications\">near field communication<\/a>\u00a0(NFC)\u00a0technology to send encrypted data over short distances to enable secure transactions.
