The challenging economic situation in South Africa has made it incredibly difficult for South Africans to travel abroad, but there are still several international holidays that may not break the bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With load shedding set to remain elevated for the rest of the year, many South Africans are searching for a country with a constant electricity supply. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it must be stressed that international travel, especially flights, has always been a luxury, and when we say “cheap,” we mainly refer to those who have the means to travel internationally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are also so many countries to travel to worldwide, so we’ve mainly looked at countries that look appealing to us and are within a reasonable price range (flights under R15,000). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s not only the flight prices that must be considered but also the cost of staying in the country, with food, drinks and transport all adding up when one travels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have thus included the cost of food, drinks and travel across the six countries we have chosen, with data from Numbeo<\/a> \u2013 one of the biggest databases for user-contributed data on countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accommodation is often one of the most significant costs associated with travelling and thus can not be ignored. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Numbeo doesn’t have a short-term rental comparison, so we have taken the one-month rent for an apartment in the city centre for the comparison, as many are using online marketplaces for short- and long-term homestays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
