South Africa is home to a stunning luxury property market, with regions like Franschoek, Stellenbosch, and Cape Town’s Atlantic coast drawing in high-net-worth buyers from around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those who can afford to live in luxury also have plenty of options open to them, with the R80 million+ bracket showcasing some of the most eye-catching properties on offer in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Andrew Golding, chief executive of the Pam Golding Property, highly sought-after locations in this bracket can be found in the leafy Cape Town Southern Suburbs of Bishopscourt \u2013 where we are seeing a surge in demand for super luxurious, top-end properties, as well as Constantia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cape Atlantic Seaboard is a prime location for both South African and international high-net-worth buyers, particularly with world-class residential properties positioned high up on the mountain in Clifton \u2013 including renowned Nettleton Road, and in other exclusive suburbs including Bantry Bay, Fresnaye and the V&A Waterfront.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other popular areas are the Cape Winelands region, the Garden Route\u2019s Plettenberg Bay and Knysna, while upcountry, Sandhurst in Sandton, Johannesburg is acknowledged as one of the city\u2019s most exclusive suburbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“For both international and local global buyers, in order to command such prices, these ultra-high-end properties should have unique attributes, outstanding views, exceptional privacy, and the very best of the best when it comes to opulence and convenience, and fittings and finishes,” Golding said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts at Seeff Property said that Franschhoek is seeing an influx of semigrant and second-home buyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seeff said that the town is an easy drive from the Cape Town airport and is highly sought-after due to its picturesque mountains and high-end wineries like La Motte, Backsberg, Babylonstoren, Boschendal, and Haute Cabri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The area was also noted for its chic cosmopolitan lifestyle, with the area filled with excellent restaurants, art galleries, and beautiful residences, drawing both local and international buyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The average price in Franschhoek is currently R5.7 million, with property prices growing 36% in the last five years and 104% over the last ten years, data from Lightsonte and Seef shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seeff added that, on average, buyers should expect to spend between R4 million and R8 million, with the top end going above R100 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
