{"id":724612,"date":"2023-10-13T11:53:24","date_gmt":"2023-10-13T09:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=724612"},"modified":"2023-10-13T11:53:24","modified_gmt":"2023-10-13T09:53:24","slug":"3-new-shopping-malls-in-the-works-for-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/property\/724612\/3-new-shopping-malls-in-the-works-for-south-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"3 new shopping malls in the works for South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Property developer Abland has three retail centres in the pipeline for Gauteng. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the South African construction and development sector has faced major headwinds in recent times, Abland still has several retail sector developments in the works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/property\/698313\/big-new-shopping-malls-coming-to-joburg-pretoria-and-cape-town\/\" target=\"_blank\">BusinessTech <\/a>previously looked at a few of these projects, including the 10,000 sqm Eyethu Shopping Centre in Soweto, the Groot Phesantekraal Shopping Centre in Durbanville, and the Mopane View Retail Mall in Soshanguve. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Eyethu Shopping Centre is right around the corner for Abland, with an opening date of Saturday, 28 October. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Leopard&#8217;s Rest Shopping Centre in Alberton, Makhethani Crossing in Soshanguve and Lion Pride Shopping Centre in Fourways are also on the agenda for the developer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Leopard&#8217;s Rest Shopping Centre<\/strong>, <strong>Alberton<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Location: Cnr JG Strydom &amp; Kliprivier Dr, Albertsdal, Alberton<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Size: 8,500 sqm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Completion Date: October 2024<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Leopards Rest Shopping Centre will be situated in Alberton in Gauteng&#8217;s East Rand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mall is expected to lease space to several well-known retailers, with South Africa&#8217;s largest retailer, Shoprite, having a presence. R114, Nietgedacht<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Size: 8,000 sqm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Abland is also developing the Lion Pride Shopping Centre in the fast-growing area of Fourways, Johannesburg North.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The centre will feature a Gin Bar &amp;
