shedding break extended &#8211; here&#8217;s the new schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Power utility Eskom says that the suspension of load shedding will continue for another day &#8211; taking the total break to four consecutive days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group said that load shedding will remain suspended until 16h00 on Tuesday, 24 October, after initially planning to bring outages back on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When load shedding does return, it will be at lower stages, Eskom said, with stage 1 anticipated in the evenings and suspension again during the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The schedule 00h00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Breakdowns are currently at 13,559MW, while planned maintenance is at 4,765MW of generation capacity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Demand forecast for the evening peak is 25,054MW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/725858\/big-turn-for-eskom-and-load-shedding-in-south-africa\/\"><strong><br>Analysis of the data published by Eskom on its fleet performance<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;shows that the group\u2019s energy availability factor has taken a positive turn, with plants performing better than the same time in 2021 and 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Breakdowns have also improved \u2013 which is key to the group\u2019s plan to keep load shedding contained in the summer months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the data also shows that energy supplies aren\u2019t significantly higher, and that much of the improvement seen in the system comes from lower demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a also be attributed to three units at Kusile coming online in recent weeks, with units 1 and 3 returning from a year-long outage, and unit 4 returning to operation in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unit 2
