Eskom has warned that its power supply will be under severe strain again on Wednesday (12 November) amid the continued wet weather in Gauteng.<\/p>\n
Eskom spokesperson Andrew Etzinger told Jacaranda FM that while the power utility did not expect to enforce load-shedding, the wet weather would mean that supply would remain tight.<\/p>\n
Etzinger thanked the SA public for cutting back on usage over the past few days.<\/p>\n
The group warned on Tuesday that the increase in load as a result of the weather conditions had increased the risk of load shedding.<\/p>\n
It added to that message again on Wednesday: “The Power System is extremely constrained today. Please reduce usage by switching off geysers, pool pumps, unnecessary lights and appliances.”<\/p>\n
Eskom’s grid has come under severe pressure following a crack in the coal storage silo at the Majuba power station in Mpumalanga last Saturday, which later collapsed, leading to rolling blackouts across the country for four days.<\/p>\n
