The Gauteng executive council received an update report from the e-tolls advisory panel on Wednesday, premier David Makhura has said.<\/p>\n
“The executive council is pleased that the panel has concluded its consultation process and has now commenced with analysis and writing its report,” he told reporters in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n
“This panel is not a waste of time, its work is very important for the province.”<\/p>\n
The panel is expected to submit its report to Makhura this month (November).<\/p>\n
Makhura said he would then table the report before the executive council for its consideration and a decision on a way forward.<\/p>\n
“The Gauteng provincial government reiterates that it will seriously consider the findings and recommendations of the advisory panel.”<\/p>\n
The panel, sitting in Pretoria, was appointed by Makhura in July to examine the economic and social impact of the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project and the e-tolling system set up to fund it.<\/p>\n
