{"id":732503,"date":"2023-11-21T08:43:54","date_gmt":"2023-11-21T06:43:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=732503"},"modified":"2023-11-21T08:43:54","modified_gmt":"2023-11-21T06:43:54","slug":"eskom-pushes-load-shedding-higher","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/732503\/eskom-pushes-load-shedding-higher\/","title":{"rendered":"Eskom pushes load shedding higher"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Power utility Eskom says that load shedding will be pushed higher on Tuesday, 21 November, due to the imminent forced shutdown of two generating units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Load shedding will be pushed to stage 2 load shedding from 09h00 until 16h00 (previously stage 1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thereafter, stage 3 load shedding will be implemented from 16h00 until 05h00 on Wednesday, as previously announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stage 2 load shedding will again be implemented during the day on Wednesday, and the pattern of stage 2 and stage 3 will continue until further notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tuesday, 21 November<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stage 3: 00h00 to 05h00<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stage 1: 05h00 to 09h00<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>Stage 2: 09h00 to 16h00<\/strong><\/mark><\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stage 3: 16h00 to 24h00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wednesday, 22 November<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stage 3: 00h00 to 05h00<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>Stage 2: 05h00 to 16h00<\/strong><\/mark><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stage 3:16h00 to 00h00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday, 23 November<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stage 3: 00h00 to 05h00<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong>Stage 2: 05h00 to 16h00<\/strong><\/mark><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stage 3:16h00 to 00h00.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The escalation in load shedding comes amid warnings from analysts as well as government officials that the grid remains unstable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Electricity minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa said on Sunday that power cuts had to be ramped up this week to replenish emergency reserves after Eskom lost a \u201ccluster\u201d of units from different power stations across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This amounted to over 2,700 megawatts (MW), shy of three stages of load shedding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf we had not experienced that, of course, you would not be seeing the kind of intensity of load shedding that we are experiencing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Independent energy analyst Pieter Jordaan warned that Eskom&#8217;s unplanned outages had entrenched above 30% in recent weeks, meaning any failures &#8211;
