Massmart-owned wholesaler Makro is acquiring access to sites to enable delivery of online customer orders to \u201cconveniently located\u201d secure lockers.<\/p>\n
The new click-and-collect lockers will complement the existing option for online shoppers to collect their orders from Makro stores.<\/p>\n
These secure lockers, using technology already deployed in other markets, will be located in \u201csafe and convenient\u201d locations, including petrol station forecourts, fast food restaurants, office parks, and Makro stores.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey provide customers with an additional delivery option which will supplement the home delivery and in-store click and collect solutions already offered by Makro,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n
Delivery to a secure locker entails customers selecting a locker site which meets their needs.<\/p>\n
The customers then receive a text message confirming that the order is ready for collection, along with a unique code to gain access to a locker.<\/p>\n
