{"id":734563,"date":"2023-11-29T09:02:35","date_gmt":"2023-11-29T07:02:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=734563"},"modified":"2023-11-29T09:02:35","modified_gmt":"2023-11-29T07:02:35","slug":"multichoice-is-offering-bursaries-for-next-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/lifestyle\/734563\/multichoice-is-offering-bursaries-for-next-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Multichoice is offering bursaries for next year"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Intake for the MultiChoice Bursary Scheme has opened for the 2024 academic year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizcommunity.com\/Article\/196\/98\/244110.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The scheme<\/a> is valued at R32 million and is open to over 200 university students in all years of study. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It includes students who have enrolled in their first post-graduate degree focused in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) discipline, especially: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Actuarial science<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Electrical, electronic and information engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Computer science and applied mathematics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Information technology (AI and robotics)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Data and information science<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Digital media technologies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-businesstech wp-block-embed-businesstech\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"3gaDOf7LkI\"><a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/banking\/699591\/south-africas-biggest-banks-are-hiring-heres-what-they-are-looking-for\/\">South Africa&#8217;s biggest banks are hiring &#8211; here&#8217;s what they are looking for<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;South Africa&#8217;s biggest banks are hiring &#8211; here&#8217;s what they are looking for&#8221; &#8212; BusinessTech\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/banking\/699591\/south-africas-biggest-banks-are-hiring-heres-what-they-are-looking-for\/embed\/#?secret=OoQJqOZL2R#?secret=3gaDOf7LkI\" data-secret=\"3gaDOf7LkI\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The scheme will cover tuition fees, including registration, accommodation and an annual living allowance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DStv and Showmax owner said that South African universities are becoming more expensive, increasing the cost of living, and has urged interested students to apply for a bursary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEducation is critical, and MultiChoice recognises that this Bursary Scheme is a crucial step in promoting and developing young talent and assisting students in making their dreams and aspirations a reality,&#8221;  Tshepiso Malatjie, chief people officer at MultiChoice Group, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;As a result, MultiChoice encourages eligible students to apply and grasp this opportunity to reach their full potential,\u201d Malatjie added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply for the scheme, South African students will need to be registered at a South African Institution of Higher Learning as full-time students between quantile one to quantile three schools in all years of study up to NQF 9.
