CareerJunction has released its latest CareerJunction Index (CJI) report, which shows that labour demand continues to increase at a steady pace within South Africa\u2019s IT industry.<\/p>\n

The CareerJunction Index (CJI) uses data gathered from the CareerJunction website to represent online labour dynamics in South Africa.<\/p>\n

According to the report the IT industry has seen \u201cremarkable growth\u201d over the last 12 months.<\/p>\n

\u201cYear-on-year, job advertising in the South African IT industry has picked up by 20%,\u201d the report states.<\/p>\n

The following graph shows the trend in the volume of IT job adverts published on the CareerJunction website over the previous 12 months.<\/p>\n

However, despite the growth, the IT sector in SA remains difficult in terms of recruitment, where there are only 3.51 possible job seekers per advertised job.<\/p>\n

The report also shows that demand for professionals specialising in the field of Telecommunication has been steady all year-round, with the exception of spikes during March and October.<\/p>\n

The Index dropped to 95 during October, indicating an increased career seeker to job ad ratio. Although job ads continued to increase, job search activity spiked by 10%.<\/p>\n

The steady increase in job advertising over the last few months indicates growing demand for professionals across various industry sectors.<\/p>\n

Industries that have had the biggest affect on this trend include the IT, Construction, Motor, Mining and Manufacturing industries.<\/p>\n

Since January, demand has increased by 68% within the Motor industry, 44% within the Construction industry, 30% within the Manufacturing industry, 23% in the Mining industry and 17% within the IT industry.<\/p>\n
