{"id":73646,"date":"2014-11-17T15:42:31","date_gmt":"2014-11-17T13:42:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=73646"},"modified":"2014-11-17T15:42:31","modified_gmt":"2014-11-17T13:42:31","slug":"ceo-breaks-silence-over-anti-cell-c-billboard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/73646\/ceo-breaks-silence-over-anti-cell-c-billboard\/","title":{"rendered":"CEO breaks silence over anti-Cell C billboard"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cell C CEO Jose dos Santos has expressed his disappointment that the company failed its customer, George Prokas \u2013 the person behind the anti-Cell C banner.<\/p>\n<p>Following what he felt was bad service from Cell C, Prokas erected a large billboard and the World Wear shopping centre on Thursday 6 November 2014.<\/p>\n<p>This billboard makes the claim that Cell C is \u201cThe most useless service provider in SA\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Cell C took legal action against Prokas and the World Wear shopping centre to have the banner removed.<\/p>\n<p>However, on Thursday, 13 November 2014 the South Gauteng High Court ruled that the anti-Cell C billboard can stay up.<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Jose-dos-Santos.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-73648\" src=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Jose-dos-Santos.jpg\" alt=\"Jose-dos-Santos\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Jose-dos-Santos.jpg 600w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/Jose-dos-Santos-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nDos Santos broke his silence regarding this issue. Speaking to Bruce Whitfield on Radio 702, he said that he instructed a full audit to establish what went wrong, and how best to resolve the matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe issue goes back a year. Prokas sent his phone in for repairs, but he never got the phone. The franchisee said that he did get the phone,\u201d explained dos Santos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am furious about the lack of administration procedures that were breached by the franchisee and within my own organisation,\u201d said dos Santos.<\/p>\n<p>Dos Santos added that he is very upset that Cell C let Prokas down as a Cell C customer. He took the view that the customer is right, and tried to settle the matter with Prokas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I sent him a letter, I offered him a new iPhone 6 to replace his iPhone 4 he never got back,\u201d dos Santos said.<\/p>\n<p>Cell C was also willing to write off all Prokas\u2019 outstanding fees concerning handset fees if he settled the outstanding amount on usage charge<\/p>\n<p>However, said dos Santos, Prokas said he was not interested.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Banner was not the right call<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Commenting on Prokas\u2019 decision to erect a banner, dos Santos said that this was not the right thing to do.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the Cell C employee whose name and mobile number was displayed on the banner received 400 calls in a short period of time.
