DStv customers are now renting some 600,000 movies per month through BoxOffice.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday (25 November), Naspers published its results for the six months ending 30 September 2014, showed strong DStv subscriber growth.<\/p>\n

DStv covers 50 countries on the African continent and provides services to over 8.4 million homes.<\/p>\n

Naspers\u2019 pay-television showed subscriber growth of 342,000 households, which drove revenues up 18% to R20.2 billion. Trading profit increased 11% to R5 billion.<\/p>\n

The margin on Naspers\u2019 pay-TV service continues to decline \u2013 down from 25% to 23% over the last twelve months.<\/p>\n

The personal video recorder (PVR) base expanded to 1.2 million subscribers, while DStv customers are now renting some 600,000 movies per month through BoxOffice.<\/p>\n

This is up from 529,000 rentals six months ago, and from 400,000 movie rentals per month it recorded in 2013.<\/p>\n

At R27 per rental, the group\u2019s BoxOffice service amounted to R16.2 million per month in revenue.<\/p>\n
