Three South African airports have been ranked in the 2024 Skytrax World Airport Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
King Shaka International Airport, Cape Town International Airport, and OR Tambo International Airport all won awards at the ceremony held in Frankfurt, Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cape Town International Airport<\/strong> was named Best Airport in Africa<\/strong> and Best Airport Staff Service<\/strong> in Africa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Cape Town’s airport was named best in Africa for the ninth consecutive year, and best airport staff for the fourth year in a row.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Durban’s King Shaka International Airport<\/strong> took home the award for Best Regional Airport in Africa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n OR Tambo International Airport<\/strong> in Joburg secured the third position for Best Airport in Africa and also received accolades for Best Airport Hotel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Skytrax introduced the World Airline and Airport Star Rating programme back in 1999, which evaluates airlines and airports based on product quality and staff service standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These “are coveted accolades for airports across the world, and a global benchmark of airport excellence,” said Airports Company South Africa (ACSA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThese achievements mark a moment of immense pride for all of us,” said ACSA CEO, Mpumi Mpofu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “We are successfully navigating a period of substantial growth, surging passenger numbers and the introduction of new airlines,” she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mpofu said that “we are grateful for the partnerships and support from all our stakeholders, without whom these accolades would not be possible [and] to each and every staff member, who tirelessly contributes to ensuring an outstanding airport experience for every passenger and user,\u00a0heartfelt congratulations are in order.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Best airports in the world<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Doha\u2019s Hamad International Airport was named the World\u2019s Best Airport for 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Hamad International Airport also won awards for the World\u2019s Best Airport Shopping and the Best Airport in the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The 2023 Airport of the Year and 12-times previous winner, Singapore Changi Airport, achieved second place in the global ranking, winning awards for the Best Airport in Asia and the World\u2019s Best Airport Immigration Service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Seoul Incheon Airport, which moved up to third place in the global survey rankings, was named the World\u2019s Most Family Friendly Airport for 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tokyo Haneda Airport was fourth in the global ranking and maintained further outstanding results, being declared the World\u2019s Cleanest Airport, the World\u2019s Best Domestic Airport and delivering the World\u2019s Best Airport PRM & Accessible Facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tokyo’s Narita Airport rounded out the top five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These are the top 20 airlines in the world for 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
