{"id":775190,"date":"2024-06-04T14:38:43","date_gmt":"2024-06-04T12:38:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=775190"},"modified":"2024-06-04T14:38:48","modified_gmt":"2024-06-04T12:38:48","slug":"new-gautrain-prices-announced-for-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/lifestyle\/775190\/new-gautrain-prices-announced-for-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"New Gautrain prices announced for 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Gautrain has published its new prices\u00a0for 2024\/25, which have been in effect since 1 June 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like the previous two years, the Gautrain has kept its previous high peak pay-as-you-go prices off the fare lists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pay-as-you-go rates will depend on the time of day that you go: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Peak \u2014\u00a006:00 to 08:30\u00a0and\u00a015:00 to 18:00<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Off-peak \u2014\u00a0opening to 06:00,\u00a008:30 to 15:00, and\u00a018:30 to closing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The most expensive peak pay-as-you-go tickets are from Hatfield, Pretoria or Centurion to OR Tambo International Airport at R248, which increased by 11% from R217 the prior year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pay-as-go single train fares can be found below: <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/gt-fares.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"482\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/gt-fares-1024x482.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-775191\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/gt-fares-1024x482.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/gt-fares-300x141.jpg 300w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/gt-fares-768x361.jpg 768w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/gt-fares.jpg 1093w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>For those who use the Gautrain more often, the 10-trip weekly train product will now cost between R333 and R981, up from R315 and R925. Penalty amounts are determined by the seriousness of an offence: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><p style=\"line-height: 18pt; font-size: 13pt; color: rgb(45, 51, 57); font-family: &quot;open sans&quot;, sans-serif; white-space-collapse: collapse;\"><span style=\"font-size: revert; white-space-collapse: preserve; color: initial; font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, &quot;Segoe UI&quot;, Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, &quot;Helvetica Neue&quot;, sans-serif;\">Level 1 \u2014 Non-visible fare evasion &#8211; Increase from R480 to R500\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Level 2 \u2014 Visible fare evasion &#8211; Increase from R600 to R620 <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Level 3 \u2014 Safety and security violations &#8211;
