{"id":778268,"date":"2024-06-21T14:32:54","date_gmt":"2024-06-21T12:32:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=778268"},"modified":"2024-06-21T14:33:00","modified_gmt":"2024-06-21T12:33:00","slug":"major-water-outages-hitting-joburg-next-week-these-are-all-the-areas-affected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/lifestyle\/778268\/major-water-outages-hitting-joburg-next-week-these-are-all-the-areas-affected\/","title":{"rendered":"Major water outages hitting Joburg next week &#8211; these are all the areas affected"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Water utility Rand Water will kick off its 37-day maintenance programme on Saturday (22 June), with the bulk of disruptions to water services starting on Monday (24 June).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The extensive infrastructure maintenance programme will run from 22 June to 29 July 2024 and will impact major water systems across Gauteng at various levels over different time periods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the project&#8217;s implementation will kick off on 22 June 2024 and commence in Mogale City Local Municipality, Rand Water said that normal pumping will not be affected at this stage as only one meter will be impacted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, when the maintenance hits the Eikenhof and Zwartkopjes Systems on Monday, residents across greater Joburg can expect to be affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eikenhof System<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On 24 June, pumping at the Eikenhof Pumping Station will be reduced to 50% for eight hours and later increased to 67% for the next 64 hours. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For the remainder of the project, Eikenhof will operate at 83% capacity for a period of over two weeks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Zwartkopjes System<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On 24 June 2024, pumping at Zwartkopjes Pumping Station will be reduced to 50% for 27 hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There will be no pumping at Daleside for four hours. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Palmiet System<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pumping at the Palmiet System will not be affected during the implementation of the project on 28 June in Ekurhuleni.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On 1 July 2024, the station will be operating at 60% for eight hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On 15 July 2024, Palmiet will be pumping at 68% for 50 hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On 29 July 2024, the system will be pumping at 76% for 40 hours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mapleton System<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maintenance work at the Mapleton System will commence on 5 July 2024, and pumping will be<br>reduced to 73% for 24 hours. There will be no pumping at Bloemendal for 40 hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On 19 July, pumping will not be affected.
