Bank clarifies &#8216;security breach&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Standard Bank says that there has been no breach of its system despite customer concerns emerging online. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many Standard Bank customers on Twitter\/X, including Comrades Winner Gerda Steyn, said that they had been victims of fraud and could not access the bank&#8217;s call centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Standard Bank said that there has been no breach of its system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it has apologised to its customers for the delayed response when calling its call centre, which it said was due to a spike in month-end transactions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those not able to reach the call centre, it said that customers can use the App or Internet Banking to report Fraud or manage their cards or card payments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Customers can also visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standardbank.co.za\/southafrica\/personal\/products-and-services\/security-centre\/bank-safely\/scams?cid=WPS_2G7o1&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzJD6qoWIhwMVtqpmAh2yvwAWEAAYASAAEgJFEvD_BwE&amp;gclsrc=aw.ds\">Standard Bank\u2019s Security Centre&nbsp;<\/a>for details and tips to help avoid fraud. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bank also offered the following tips: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"1\">\n<li><strong>Password Best Practices:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use strong passwords for all your online accounts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consider using a password manager to securely store and manage your passwords.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"1\">\n<li><strong>Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Biometrics:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enable MFA wherever possible to add an extra layer of security.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Biometric authentication (such as fingerprint or facial recognition) enhances account protection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"1\">\n<li><strong>Combat Social Engineering:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be cautious of unsolicited calls, emails, or messages asking for personal information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify the legitimacy of requests before sharing sensitive
