I know that sounds crazy, but I am,\u201d said Buckham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He expressed particular optimism regarding the energy transition, stating that if South Africa gets load-shedding off its back, it will improve growth by a massive 3-4%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will make a huge difference to South Africa\u2019s stagnant economy, he said, before encouraging banks to play their crucial role in this growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/monocle-gibs-2-e1719929225565.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/monocle-gibs-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-780552\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Buckham said banks must finance change and even force this change upon the government to foster growth, noting that Monocle can help them do this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere is an enormous role that management consulting can play in this dramatically changing world.
