{"id":78931,"date":"2015-02-03T16:30:35","date_gmt":"2015-02-03T14:30:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=78931"},"modified":"2015-02-03T16:30:35","modified_gmt":"2015-02-03T14:30:35","slug":"uber-looking-at-driverless-cars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/78931\/uber-looking-at-driverless-cars\/","title":{"rendered":"Uber looking at driverless cars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ride-sharing service Uber is partnering with Carnegie Mellon University on a Pittsburgh research lab they say could lead to the development of driverless cars.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership announced Monday includes Uber funding for faculty chairs and graduate fellowships at the private research university.<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco-based Uber says the Uber Advanced Technologies Center will also focus on mapping and safety technologies in support of its ride-sharing mission.<\/p>\n<p>Uber operates in 200 cities in 54 countries, including Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Harrisburg.
