50,550,965 sites that were online at the time.<\/p>\n<p>For some perspective, as of January 2014 there were over <a title=\"http:\/\/news.netcraft.com\/archives\/category\/web-server-survey\/\" href=\"http:\/\/news.netcraft.com\/archives\/category\/web-server-survey\/\" target=\"_blank\">850 million websites<\/a> &#8211;
