Eskom has announced that stage one load shedding will be implemented from 18h00 until 22h00 this evening.<\/p>\n
“Any unexpected changes on the already constrained system may impact the stage and we will inform South Africans accordingly,” the group said.<\/p>\n
Stage one allows for up to 1000MW of the national load to be cut, stage two for up to 2000MW, and stage three for up to 4000MW.<\/p>\n
Eskom said on Monday (9 February) that its systems would be under severe pressure for the rest of the week.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe system will continue to be under severe pressure over the coming week, so the risk of load shedding remains high,\u201d Eskom said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is a shortage of generation capacity due to units that are currently out of service due to planned and unplanned maintenance.\u201d<\/p>\n
The focus was on returning the units that were on unplanned maintenance back on line in order to increase available capacity.<\/p>\n
