{"id":795961,"date":"2024-10-17T12:44:17","date_gmt":"2024-10-17T10:44:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=795961"},"modified":"2024-10-17T12:44:22","modified_gmt":"2024-10-17T10:44:22","slug":"ai-in-fintech-data-security-theres-still-a-long-way-to-go","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/industry-news\/795961\/ai-in-fintech-data-security-theres-still-a-long-way-to-go\/","title":{"rendered":"AI in FinTech data security \u2013 There\u2019s still a long way to go"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>AI is transforming how data security is handled in the fintech sector \u2013 but there is still a long way to go before it can replace existing systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is according to Altron FinTech IT Manager Gerhard Mentz, who explained that while AI is a great complementary tool to existing data security systems and strategies, it is not yet advanced enough to replace the foundations upon which data security infrastructure is built.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.altronfintech.com?utm_source=BusinessTech&amp;utm_medium=Article&amp;utm_term=October+2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Click here to learn more about the power of AI in FinTech data security.<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAI is still in its infancy, and everyone is still learning how to maximise its value,\u201d explained Mentz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt offers great value in certain areas, and we are investigating how we can maximise these benefits without compromising the core infrastructure that data security tools are built upon.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Exciting use cases<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Mentz said that where AI does bring huge value, is in the field of advanced threat protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBack in the day, we used vector-type parameters coded into systems.
