South Africa is a fantastic country to visit. It offers a first-world experience blended with the best nature and adventure available anywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It offers many globally renowned hotels and bushveld lodges, which are comparable to major international cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two South African hotels, Singita Kruger National Park and Mount Nelson in Cape Town, have recently been ranked in the Top 50 hotels globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The country also boasts exceptional restaurants which rival Michelin Star establishments in Paris, London, and New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Colombe in Constantia has been named one of the best restaurants in the world and the \u2018Best Restaurant in Africa\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fyn in Cape Town and Wolfgat in Paternoster have also previously been named among the best restaurants in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accolades also extend to the best golf courses in the world. The Links at Fancourt, Leopard Creek in Malelane, and the Gary Player course in Sun City are globally renowned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cape Town has regularly been named the best city in the world. Time Out\u2019s latest Top 50 Cities in 2024 ranked Cape Town second behind New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The country also has excellent weather, no big natural disasters, world-class beaches, friendly people, and decent infrastructure, where focused investments have been made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the biggest advantage to first-world travellers is affordability. The weak local currency makes visiting South Africa extremely cheap for people from Europe, the UK, or the\u00a0US to enjoy high-quality living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They can experience a meal at a world-class fine-dining restaurant or visit a 5-star hotel at a fraction of the cost they would pay at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering these factors, South Africa should be the top choice for most global travellers looking for a holiday destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the country has a big problem\u2014crime. It is unsafe for travellers to visit South Africa and explore the country alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although a travel guide or local friends can help circumvent the\u00a0most dangerous situations, many travellers prefer to visit countries that they can explore on their own without facing danger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canada tells its citizens<\/strong> to exercise a high degree of caution when travelling to South Africa due to the significant level of serious crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSouth Africa has a very high level of crime. Crime is the primary security threat to travellers,\u201d Canada tells travellers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It explains that violent crimes, including rape and murder, occur frequently and have involved foreigners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMuggings, armed assaults and theft are also frequent, often occurring in areas that are popular among tourists. Carjackings, robbery and assault also occur,\u201d it says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The United Kingdom warns that<\/strong> there is a high crime rate in South Africa, with incidents including violent crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It includes violent muggings, snatching jewellery and valuables, carjacking, \u2018smash and grab\u2019 attacks, house robbery, rape and sexual assault, and murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also warns of fraud and scams, crime around ATMs and money exchanges, kidnappings, and crime in and around airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The United States warns its citizens<\/strong> that violent crimes, such as armed robbery, rape, carjacking, mugging, and “smash-and-grab” attacks on vehicles, are common in South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is a higher risk of violent crime in the central business districts of major cities after dark,\u201d the US said in a travel advisory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US warns citizens that GPS navigation may suggest shortcuts through townships as the quickest preferred route but can lead to increased risks of crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It added that demonstrations, protests, and strikes also occur frequently and can develop quickly without prior notification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
