The rates are split between on-net and off-net, peak and off-peak, and different times of the day and weekend.

Telkom was found to have the cheapest prepaid call and SMS pricing combination on the market, while Vodacom had the most expensive pricing combination, followed by Virgin Mobile, MTN, and Cell C.

More on mobile operators

Government eyes Vodacom sale, MTN mulls Telkom buy: report

Neotel deal to make life tougher for Telkom: Vodacom CEO

Cell C CEO warns of Vodacom, MTN duopoly

New research shows how mobile data prices in South Africa compares with other countries in Africa.

[34
42,26,28,4731,77,27
post-80603","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-mobile","tag-cell-c","tag-headline","tag-mtn","tag-research-ict-africa","tag-virgin-mobile","tag-vodacom
["GET
