Redhill School\u2019s 2024 matric class achieved 100% university entrance, an average of 3.5 distinctions per student, and 10% achieving seven or more distinctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Redhill School is a private English medium co-educational day school in Morningside, Sandton, Gauteng.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The school’s roots date back to 1907, when St Winifred\u2019s School for Girls was founded in a small, double-storey building in Yeoville, Johannesburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the beginning of 1924, the school was relocated to Parkview, where a new, \u2018modernised\u2019 building was erected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 1941, Catherine Hill became the headmistress with a vision to transform and revitalise the school\u2019s image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
St Winifred\u2019s School for Girls became Redhill School, named for the headmistress and the vibrant colour of the new uniforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 1968, amidst financial difficulties, the school\u2019s governing body approached Dr Isaac Kriel, the principal and majority shareholder of the Damelin Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 1968, Redhill School officially came under the guidance of the Damelin Group in a widely publicised deal worth R300,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From that point onwards, Redhill underwent fundamental changes. From a girls\u2019 school of 150 pupils, the numbers would increase over the next ten years to 630, including boys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Major progress would be made towards achieving academic excellence through a more traditional and rigorous approach to education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, Redhill is part of the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa and is the only school in South Africa offering students two important graduation options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Redhill scholars can graduate with either an Independent Examination Board (IEB) or International Baccalaureate (IB) qualification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It had standout results over the latest year, with 100% of the learners writing the IEB exam, achieving university entrance through a bachelor\u2019s degree pass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even more impressive is that Redhill School matriculants achieved an average of 3.5 distinctions per student, for a total of 309 distinctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One student achieved an average of over 90%, 40 students recorded an average of over 80%, and 33 students had a 70%+ average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
10% of its matriculants achieved seven or more destinations, 45% achieved an A average, and 83% achieved a B average or above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The top achievers were Christopher Ferreira, with a 93.43% average and seven distinctions, and Taqiyya Osman, with seven distinctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
