The Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has published the official fuel price adjustments that will take effect on Wednesday, 5 March 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

February started with fuel recoveries tilted heavily towards increases, but the global price of oil and the rand eventually stabilised and then pushed in the other direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This has translated to a small price cut at the pumps in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prices will be cut by 7 cents per litre for 93 and 95 petrol<\/strong>, and between\u00a018 and 24 cents per litre for diesel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the period under review, the average international product prices for petrol and illuminating paraffin increased, while diesel decreased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On average, the rand appreciated against the US dollar during the period under review compared to the previous period. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The average rand\/US dollar exchange rate from 31 January 2025 to 27 February 2025 was 18.5047, compared to 18.7343 during the previous period. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This led to a lower contribution to the Basic Fuel Prices of petrol, diesel, and illuminating paraffin by 13.54 c\/l, 14.38 c\/l, and 14.15 c\/l, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In line with the provisions of the Self-Adjusting Slate Levy Mechanism, the Slate Levy on petrol and diesel will remain at 0.00 c\/l with effect from 05 March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
