Eskom says that there is a medium probability of load shedding during the day on Monday (2 March), “with a high probability of load shedding for this evening”.<\/p>\n
“Any unexpected changes on the constrained and vulnerable power system could lead to load shedding at short notice. We’ll keep you posted,” the power utility said in a statement on Monday.<\/p>\n
Forecasting expectations for the remainder of the week, Eskom said there is a moderate chance that rolling blackouts may be implemented this week.<\/p>\n
“The system is currently constrained but stable. One could say there is a 50\/50 chance of implementing load shedding,” spokesman Khulu Phasiwe said.<\/p>\n
He said the system was expected to take on more strain, which it could withstand.<\/p>\n
“But if any of our generators break down then we may have to implement load shedding this week but our plan is not to implement any…”<\/p>\n
