residence applications through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship\/services\/immigrate-canada\/express-entry\/rounds-invitations\/category-based-selection.html\">express entry pathway<\/a> in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The list of skills includes healthcare professionals, engineers, scientists, teachers, farmers, cooks, carpenters, bricklayers, and electricians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Canada\u2019s express entry pathway gives people with specific qualifications and work experience priority to apply for permanent residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Canadian government explained that immigration is essential to supporting the country\u2019s economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Immigration accounts for almost 100% of Canada\u2019s labour force growth, helping to address labour shortages in key sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs labour requirements in key sectors continue to evolve, Canada\u2019s immigration system must be nimble and responsive to our country\u2019s needs,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On 27 February 2025, Marc Miller, Canada\u2019s minister of immigration, refugees and citizenship, announced the 2025 express entry categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2025 categories included education to align the selection of federal economic immigrants with Canada\u2019s long-term labour shortages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a list of professions for category-based selection for permanent residence applications through the express entry pathway into Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Healthcare and social services<\/strong>, including family physicians, nurse practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, psychologists, and chiropractors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Trade occupations<\/strong>, including carpenters, plumbers, and contractors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Education<\/strong>, including teachers, child care educators and instructors of persons with disabilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>STEM professionals<\/strong>, including data analysts, civil engineering, electrical engineering, other engineering professions, actuarial scientists, biologists, scientists, and IT professionals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Agriculture and agri-food production<\/strong>, including farmers, farm workers, food processing technologists and similar agriculture professions.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Canadian government said the list adjustments are needed to achieve long-term, well-managed, sustainable growth and economic prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe focus economic immigrant selection efforts on priority sectors, such as health care, construction and education,\u201d Miller said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis allows us to issue invitations to prospective permanent residents with specific skills, training or language abilities to bring in-demand professionals to Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>South Africans applying for this programme need to have accumulated at least 6 months of full-time, continuous work experience in one of these categories within the past 3 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They will also be required to write a language proficiency test to ensure their English are good enough to move to
