Cape Town International Airport and King Shaka International Airport have been rated as some of the best getaways in the world at the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cape Town International Airport received three accolades at the awards, winning Best Airport in Africa, Best Airport Staff Service in Africa, and Cleanest Airport in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

King Shaka in Durban, meanwhile, was recognised as the Best Regional Airport in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2025 Skytrax awards were held on Wednesday 9 April 2025 during the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Madrid, Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skytrax conducts the world\u2019s largest annual airport customer satisfaction study in 575 airports in 100 countries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The passengers evaluate their experiences across more than 575 airports globally between August 2024 and February 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survey assessed key performance indicators across the entire passenger journey \u2013 from check-in, arrivals and transfers to shopping, security, and gate departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“(The awards are) a reflection of the dedication of our teams and the faith that passengers continue to place in our airports,\u201d said Airports Company South Africa CEO, Mpumi Mpofu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur goal is to provide a seamless, safe and enjoyable travel experience for all who pass through our airports. These recognitions affirm that we are on the right path and inspire us to continue raising the bar.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACSA noted that South Africa also scored another recognition in the awards, with the Intercontinental Hotel at OR Tambo International Airport in Joburg named the Best Airport Hotel in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Top-ranked airports in the world<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While South Africa’s airports are held in high regard on the continent, Singapore Changi Airport was ranked as the best airport in the world, overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This marks the thirteenth time in the history of the awards that Changi Airport took the top accolade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport also received other major awards, including the World\u2019s Best Airport Dining, the World\u2019s Best Airport Washrooms and as the Best Airport in Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Changi Airport stands apart with is striking designs, which is renowed for blending modern architecture with nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of its key features and iconic draws is a glass-and-steel dome housing the world\u2019s tallest indoor waterfall. The space is surrounded by a multi-level “forest valley” and retail stores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doha’s Hamad International Airport Ranked second in 2025\u2014having features as number one in 2024\u2014as well as receiving the award for the World\u2019s Best Airport Shopping, and the Best Airport in the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
