{"id":8266,"date":"2012-03-26T15:03:18","date_gmt":"2012-03-26T13:03:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=8266"},"modified":"2012-03-26T15:05:46","modified_gmt":"2012-03-26T13:05:46","slug":"flat-rated-xds-smartphone-data-packages-enjoy-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/8266\/flat-rated-xds-smartphone-data-packages-enjoy-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Flat-rated XDS smartphone data packages enjoy support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/313921-Nashua-Mobile\" target=\"_blank\">Nashua Mobile<\/a> launched its new \u201cXtreme Data Service\u201d (XDS) deal for certain <a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/314603-Nokia-Corporation\" target=\"_blank\">Nokia<\/a> devices on 7 March 2012, offering contract users a flat-rated bundle at R59 per month.<\/p>\n<p>Nashua Mobile\u2019s Xtreme Data Service is currently limited to contract customers using the Nokia C3, X2-01, N8, E5 or E7 handsets.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Person Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/210212-Tim-Walter\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Walter<\/a>, executive head of marketing at Nashua Mobile, says that the take-up on their XDS product has been \u201cincreasing gradually as our sales teams and customers are becoming more familiar with the service\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe foresee that the take-up will be larger once we introduce a larger range of Nokia handsets to the service,\u201d said Walter.<\/p>\n<p>The usage patterns from subscribers are yet to be established. \u201cAs the majority of the new customers have only been using the service for 7 \u2013 10 days, it is too early to make any conclusion on usage patterns,\u201d said Walter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce we have a usage data for several weeks, we will be able to make some accurate reports on the usage behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Walter said that the initial feedback about the service has been positive. \u201cFor the average user, there is virtually no difference in user experience between the standard network APN and XDS,\u201d said Walter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have planned some surveys on customers after a month\u2019s usage to ascertain the customer impressions and where we can improve the service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Walter said that they are currently testing the various usage patterns on the Nokia Lumia 800, for which they are also planning a flat-rated service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNokia is also revealing a new QWERTY handset range in April.
