Groot Phesantekraal View in Durbanville, Cape Town, has opened its doors, bringing a large shopping centre into a growing area of Cape Town. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new 30,000 sqm mall opened on 24 July 2025, received close to R1 billion in investment, and was spearheaded by developer Abland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNestled at the gateway to the Cape Winelands, Groot Phesantekraal View is more than a shopping destination, it’s a place rooted in heritage, shaped by nature, and built for community,\u201d it says on its website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhether you’re picking up daily essentials or pausing for a moment of indulgence, this is a space where growth, connection, and a sense of belonging come naturally.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durbanville may be one of the oldest towns in the Western Cape, dating back to the late 17th century, but the area is now attracting a large amount of investment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The area has experienced rapid growth in recent years as families and professionals look for quieter suburban living without sacrificing access to urban conveniences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Situated in the northern parts of Cape Town, developers have started to respond to the demand for the wine-producing area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many new residential developments have been or are in the process of being built, while other developments include a new Stadio campus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new mall is designed to cater to the expanding needs of Durbanville residents, as the area continues to grow due to its blend of picturesque wine estates and modern amenities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It combines retail, dining, and leisure on the border of Okavango Road and Klipheuwel Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The centre is also anticipated to increase local property demand, bring in greater convenience and attract more visitors to the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several national brands, such as Checkers, Woolworths, Dis-Chem, Clicks and Superspar anchor the mall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Africa\u2019s largest retailer, Shoprite, opened five new stores in the centre, including a Checkers Supermarket, Checkers Little Me, PetShop Science, Checkers Outdoor and a UNIQ clothing by Checkers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The five stores have created 146 new job opportunities for the local community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to food options, the centre has major international outlets, including McDonald\u2019s and KFC, and there are also Wimpy and the Daily Coffee company. The retailers at the centre include: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
