placing job creation, waste innovation, and community empowerment at the heart of its mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosefoundation.org.za\/?utm_source=BusinessTech&amp;utm_medium=Article&amp;utm_campaign=From+waste+to+wealth+&amp;utm_term=July+2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here to learn more about the ROSE Foundation\u2019s work.<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the ROSE Foundation Annual Oil Collectors\u2019 Roadshow, CEO Bubele Nyiba shared an inspiring vision for the future of waste oil management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Addressing dozens of informal and emerging oil collectors and processors, Nyiba reaffirmed the Foundation\u2019s commitment to environmental protection while expanding economic opportunity at grassroots level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are not just collecting used oil &#8211; we are collecting opportunity,\u201d said Nyiba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEvery litre safely recovered is a win for the environment, a boost for the economy, and a chance for someone to earn a living with dignity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since its inception in 1994, The ROSE Foundation (Recycling Oil Saves the Environment) has worked tirelessly to ensure that used lubricating oil &#8211; a toxic pollutant &#8211; is responsibly collected and recycled rather than dumped or burned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Foundation\u2019s work has helped divert more than a billion litres of used oil from South Africa\u2019s water systems, soil, and air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Social impact<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond the environmental success, the Foundation has become a powerful engine for social impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through training, certification support, and inclusion in the waste value chain, it has empowered more than 250 medium and small companies, many from under-resourced communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese entrepreneurs are the backbone of our movement,\u201d Nyiba said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re not only protecting our rivers and soil but also building businesses that feed families and uplift communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Aligning with national priorities and global goals, the ROSE Foundation\u2019s model aligns with South Africa\u2019s green economy priorities and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>SDG 6 (Clean Water &amp; Sanitation):<\/strong> Preventing oil pollution from contaminating natural water sources.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SDG 8 (Decent Work &amp; Economic Growth):<\/strong> Creating income-generating opportunities for oil collectors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities &amp; Communities):<\/strong> Building cleaner, safer industrial practices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption &amp; Production):<\/strong> Promoting circular waste management.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>SDG 13 (Climate Action):<\/strong> Reducing emissions from unregulated burning or dumping of used oil.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking ahead, with a growing network of partners across the automotive, transport, and industrial sectors, the Rose Foundation is actively exploring new sources for used, as well as expanding awareness campaigns to reach workshops, dealerships, and fleet operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSustainability is no longer a luxury &#8211;
