A Hermanus property owned by the Rupert family and Markus Jooste has hit the market for R105 million. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seeff said the exclusive property is located in the prestigious area of Vo\u00eblklip, offering a prime position in one of the most exclusive estates on the Whale Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given its price, the property is expected to achieve a record-breaking sale.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOffering unmatched space, privacy, and grandeur, its distinguished history includes being the cherished holiday retreat of the respected Rupert family,\u201d said Seeff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey carefully selected the prime location to create a sanctuary where mountains meet the sea, imbuing the estate with a rich heritage of understated elegance and a deep connection to Hermanus’s pristine natural beauty.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seeff confirmed that the property was also owned by disgraced Steinhoff CEO Markus Jooste. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He committed suicide in 2024, years after the company collapsed over extreme financial irregularities.\u00a0His death came shortly after the FSCA fined him R475 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The property offers uninterrupted, panoramic views of Walker Bay, renowned for its spectacular whale-watching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul Kruger, licensee for Seeff Hermanus, described it as a “legacy property” and one of the most significant coastal residential holdings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The estate includes a double plot, which covers 7,000 sqm. This includes  manor house with voluminous interiors and bespoke finishes, and additional residences, all in a Cape vernacular style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kruger said that the property is an extreme rarity, noting that a double plot in the highly sought-after Vo\u00eblklip area is “virtually unheard of.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
