Online retail giant Takealot has launched several new business ventures in South Africa and is also partnering with the government on avenues like business development and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This represents a major turn for the group’s operations in South Africa, which have typically been focused on online retail and digital marketplaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest venture from the group is a partnership with the Department of Higher Education and Training, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for specialised training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According the department, the MoU aims to bridge the gap between education and employment by offering industry-relevant skills training and e-commerce business opportunities to young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement is an extension of the Takealot Township Economy Initiative, which is also being expanded from Mpumalanga and Gauteng into a national drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group said that it is now putting its platform, logistics, and expertise to work to help accelerate skills development, job creation, and drive inclusive economic growth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are committed to working with the government and other partners to accelerate digital inclusion and leverage the power of e-commerce to change lives for the better,\u201d said Frederik Zietsman, CEO of Takealot Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the public-private partnership, Takealot hopes to integrate into some TVET or community colleges to help develop curriculums and and empart knowledge related to logistics, e-commerce, and technology-driven business environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will also expand ts Bursary Programme, with funding that will be matched by the DHET, to enable access for more students in high-demand skills areas such as ICT, logistics, and e-commerce retail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group said it will also use its platforms and logistics systems to help deliver textbooks to colleges, while also continuing to support small and medium business and township entrepreneurs in accessing them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MoU also involves bringing SETAs on board to support young people through the township economy and by listing their businesses on e-commerce platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Takealot is cosying up to the government through its partnerships, it is also quietly exploring new business ventures on the commercial side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group launched a new standalone business unit focusing on international trade back in July 2025, called Takealot Fulfilment Solutions (TFS).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

TFS houses the group\u2019s logistics, courier, on-demand, supply chain and international freight capabilities under one brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It provides full-service global freight capabilities, allowing for simplified importing and exporting of goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was followed by the soft launch of the Takealot Home Loan Hub\u00a0<\/strong>in partnership with MortgageMarket, in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The platform allows users to get home loan offers from multiple South African banks through a single application on a dedicated Takealot-branded web app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While none of the nitty-gritty home loan financing is managed by Takealot, the hub does dabble in this area, being able to conduct a \u201csoft credit check\u201d through Experian, which will not affect a user\u2019s credit score.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Completing the trifecta of new service launches, the e-commerce group launched, or rather relaunched, its B2B offering, Takealot for Business<\/strong> in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The procurement service aims to simplify the challenges facing businesses across South Africa, from startups and SMMEs to established corporations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system offers single-supplier services for all business categories, from IT equipment to catering supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company also recently launched TakealotMORE, a monthly subscription service that gives members unlimited free TakealotNOW deliveries and exclusive coupons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
