{"id":8389,"date":"2012-03-27T13:08:48","date_gmt":"2012-03-27T11:08:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=8389"},"modified":"2012-03-27T13:10:55","modified_gmt":"2012-03-27T11:10:55","slug":"mxit-selling-price-speculation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/8389\/mxit-selling-price-speculation\/","title":{"rendered":"MXit selling price speculation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/388179-World-of-Avatar\" target=\"_blank\">World of Avatar<\/a> announced in September 2011 that it had acquired 90% of <a title=\"Term Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/226948-MXit\" target=\"_blank\">MXit<\/a> for an undisclosed amount, with 10% remaining in the hands of its staff via a trust. Both previous shareholders, MIH Holdings (a subsidiary of <a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/367138-Naspers\" target=\"_blank\">Naspers<\/a>) and Herman Heunis have sold their entire shareholding in MXit.<\/p>\n<p>To date, the exact amount for which MXit was sold was a closely-kept secret, with rumours suggesting that the selling price could have been as much as R500 million.<\/p>\n<p>Well-placed sources have now pinned the MXit selling price between R320 million and R380 million.
