on Wednesday, though things would be easier heading into the long weekend.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We see some relief from Thursday into the weekend with a decent gap between demand and supply,&#8221; Eskom said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;However, the need to use electricity sparingly must become a lifestyle for South Africans as we are running a system with a low reserve margin.&#8221;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Wednesday (01 April)<\/strong>: The capacity available to meet that evening\u2019s peak demand is 33 235 MW (including open cycle gas turbines) while demand is forecast at 31 461 MW.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Thursday (02 April)<\/strong>: The capacity available to meet that evening\u2019s peak demand is 34 943 MW (including open cycle gas turbines) while demand is forecast at 29 775 MW.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Friday (03 April)<\/strong>: The capacity available to meet that evening\u2019s peak demand is 34 884 MW (including open cycle gas turbines) while demand is forecast at 27 177 MW.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Saturday (04 April)<\/strong>: The capacity available to meet that evening\u2019s peak demand is 34 427 MW (including open cycle gas turbines) while demand is forecast at 27 634 MW.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sunday (05 April)<\/strong>: The capacity available to meet that evening\u2019s peak demand is 34 071 MW (including open cycle gas turbines) while demand is forecast at 27 278 MW.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_84047\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Eskom-supply-and-demand-forecast-Easet.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-84047\" class=\"wp-image-84047\" src=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Eskom-supply-and-demand-forecast-Easet.png\" alt=\"Eskom supply and demand forecast Easet\" width=\"600\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Eskom-supply-and-demand-forecast-Easet.png 627w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Eskom-supply-and-demand-forecast-Easet-300x101.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-84047\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Eskom supply and demand forecast Easet<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Last week, Eskom secretly conducted a nationwide blackout simulation to test how its systems would handle a total loss of power.<\/p>\n<p>The power utility has been forced into rolling blackouts in 2015 following the collapse of one of its coal storage silos, diesel shortages, and maintenance issues.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday (31 March) Eskom announced that its chairman Zola Tsotsi has stepped down, and will be replaced by Ben Ngubane as acting chairman.<\/p>\n<p>The company is currently without its chief executive, Tshediso Matona, who along with three other executives, including the financial director, were suspended a week after they had initiated an audit into Eskom\u2019s tender processes, Business Day reported.<\/p>\n<p>ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe has spun Eskom\u2019s inability to keep the lights on as \u201ca positive crisis\u201d, saying that it is a crisis of supply failing to meet demand &#8211;
