{"id":840453,"date":"2025-10-21T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=840453"},"modified":"2025-10-21T10:09:40","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T08:09:40","slug":"30-year-old-company-sold-in-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/840453\/30-year-old-company-sold-in-south-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"30-year-old company sold in South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Resolve, via the Resolve Private Equity Fund I, has acquired Tiletoria, a popular tile retailer that supplies many of South Africa\u2019s largest brands.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Resolve is a private equity business targeting R1.1 billion in mid-market investments in Southern Africa.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its fund has acquired Tiletoria, which has been one of South Africa\u2019s foremost tile and bathroom specification businesses since 1995.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company provides tailored product sourcing and design services to clients, including Woolworths, Checkers, Clicks, KFC, and residential developers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While most tile retailers&#8217; focus is on direct-to-consumer sales, Tiletoria\u2019s focus is on supplying to high-volume, project-based clients.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This specialisation and experience have made it the go-to partner for businesses seeking high-quality tile products.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile investor attention often gravitates towards emerging fields such as technology and energy, we continue to see attractive opportunities in traditional business models that are integral to South Africa\u2019s industrial base,\u201d said Phumi Twantwa, partner at Resolve.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTiletoria operates in a sector that is expected to deliver growth, driven by renewed infrastructure activity, local procurement priorities, and steady consumer demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s also a business that quite literally touches the lives of South Africans every day \u2013 in their homes, shopping centres, favourite take-away joints and workplaces.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Resolve\u2019s investment thesis focuses on infrastructure support and services, which are sectors positioned to deliver strong returns and tangible socioeconomic benefits, with the Tiletoria transaction aligning with the strategy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tiletoria CEO, Sven Swart, said that the transaction represents both continuity and renewal, with the investment set to help it grow further.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOver three decades we\u2019ve built a trusted brand, a strong client base and a reputation for responsiveness,\u201d said Swart.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPartnering with Resolve allows us to preserve that foundation while regaining the entrepreneurial agility that defined our early years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He noted that the company also intends to enhance its decision-making speed and flexibility. This has helped it stay ahead of its competitors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn today\u2019s market, the ability to adapt quickly is crucial.
