{"id":841898,"date":"2025-11-04T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=841898"},"modified":"2025-11-04T13:30:39","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T11:30:39","slug":"another-new-chinese-car-brand-launches-in-south-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/motoring\/841898\/another-new-chinese-car-brand-launches-in-south-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"Another new Chinese car brand launches in South Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Major Chinese vehicle brand, Changan, has officially launched in South Africa through a partnership with Saudi mobility group, Jameel Motors South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group made its official re-entry to the South African market at the end of October, with the brand offering five models to start, including a first-of-its-kind bakkie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The models are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Changang Alsvin (Compact sedan)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Changan CS75 Pro (SUV)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Changan Hunter Diesel (Bakkie)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Changan Hunter REEV (EV Bakkie)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Changan Deepal S07 (Luxury EV)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Changan is one of China\u2019s four largest automotive groups, with a presence in 70 countries and sales of 2.7 million units in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group previously offered passenger vehicles in South Africa under the Chang&#8217;an brand, which also carried commercial vehicles like vans, light trucks and buses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Larger commercial vehicles were sold under the Chana brand. However, the brand exited the country in 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year,it was announced that Jameel Motors South Africa would be bringing the brand back, serving as its official distributor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jameel Motors primarily focuses on the distribution of Changan and Deepal products, offering vehicles that are ideal for South Africa\u2019s diverse terrain and road conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking at the launch, Marinus Venter, Country General Manager, Jameel Motors South Africa, said that Changan is not entering South Africa as just another name in the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019re here to set a new standard where quality, technology, and reliability meet real value,&#8221;
