A new shopping centre, called Shopping at Eastway, will come to Midstream Estates and offer residents a Woolworths, Checkers, and other stores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Midstream Estate is South Africa\u2019s most successful security estate, with its own schools, hospitals, shopping centres, restaurants, and churches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was established in 2003 by the Bondev group, headed up by Riaan Botma, Chris Smith, Jan Zeederberg, and Johan van Wyk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is centrally located between Johannesburg and Pretoria, with easy access to the N1 Ben Schoeman highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The developers have invested large amounts to ensure good integration of the estate into the existing road infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several roads have been built and upgraded to link the estate to the neighbouring arterial roads, such as Olifantsfontein, R21, Nelmapius, and Old Johannesburg Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What sets Midstream Estate apart from other residential estates is that it is a fully functional town, not just a place to live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To safeguard the town, it has a 50-kilometre-long and 5-meter-wide double security wall surrounding the 1,300-hectare estate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within these security walls, there are numerous residential estates, including Midlands, Midfield, Midstream Heights, Midstream Meadows, and Midstream Ridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These residents have a choice of three pre-primary schools, two primary schools, and one high school in Midstream Estate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Midstream has some of the best medical facilities in South Africa. The Midstream Mediclinic hospital inside the estate provides world-class specialists and facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also has a Midstream Medical Centre, which includes a Cure Day Hospital, a step-down centre, and local medical practices of general practitioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It even has its own retirement village, Retire@Midstream, with a frail care facility and a dementia facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Midstream Estate has a vibrant business environment, which includes two shopping centres with numerous restaurants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two shopping centres, Square@Midstream and Shopping on Ridgeway, feature a SuperSpar, Boma, a hardware store, a fitment centre, and other speciality stores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Restaurants inside the estate include Turn \u2019n Tender, Mugg & Bean, Salsa, Steers, Godfather, Lupa, and Wimpy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Midstream Estate will get a third shopping centre, Shopping at Eastway, which will provide additional options for residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shopping on Eastway, slated for launch in October 2026, promises to elevate the retail experience in Midstream Estates further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is designed with the latest trends in mind, focusing on sustainability, modern architecture, and innovative retail solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The centre will blend with the existing aesthetic of Midstream Estates, while introducing new features that enhance its appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cResidents can look forward to an even greater variety of retail tenants, including more dining options, health and wellness facilities and speciality shops,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal is to create a hub that meets the practical needs of the community and serves as a social and recreational focal point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shopping at Eastway will feature a Woolworths, which many residents love, and a Checkers to serve clients through Sixty60.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Checker Sixty60 is wildly popular among Midstream Estate residents, and having the store inside the estate will significantly improve service levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
