However, this, along with the Treasury&#8217;s support for a 3% inflation target, enhanced South Africa&#8217;s long-term risk profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Economists surveyed by Reuters expect the Monetary Policy Committee to lower its main lending rate by 25 basis points to 6.75%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, the Top 40 index remained unchanged, while the benchmark 2035 government bond improved, with the yield decreasing by 4 basis points to 8.615%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Tuesday, 18 November, the rand was trading at R17.22 to the dollar, R22.66 to the pound and 19.98 to the euro.
